Review > Rose Masks ( Sisley / Guerlain / Fresh / By Terry / Emma Hardie)

Published by Jasmine Seo

Over the weekend, I was organising my bathroom cabinet which I do monthly, and I have found that there's something common going on in all my most loved/used face masks. That is: ROSE! Apparently I have been loving masks with rose as an ingredient without even realising it! >_< Rose smells not only beautiful, but it is also an excellent resource for hydrating skin. Anyway, I thought this might be a good review/guide for rose face masks for those who are in love with rose like I am! :) I am sorry if you find these products below quite expensive, but these are what I use as they work brilliantly on my skin, and this is my recommendation. And in general, the rose ingredient is very expensive, so you cannot imagine the producer will set price lower than this price point sadly. I wish they would lower the price, but I can understand why they don't at the same time :P.

I hope you find this post helpful like my other posts! Thank you for reading :)

Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask

(full review)

A thick emulsion-like pink creamy texture. Very easy to apply onto skin yet it feels very rich and comforting once it's on. It says leave on for 10-15 minutes, but I normally use this overnight during the colder periods of the year. I wake up with more rested and brightened skin! :)

Sisley Express Flower Gel

A fast absorbing very light clear gel texture. It is so light that it feels more like a hydrating serum (not like Sisley's hydrating serum though). I really love how this gel sets onto my skin. You just need a tiny bit on each cheek, forehead and neck, and it covers all! This lasts for ages, and it almost feels like there's nothing on my skin when it's applied. For me, there's really nothing to tissue off after 3 minutes. I used this mask religiously when I was at university, it is excellent for stressed and tired skin after too much work / partying etc. This is my must have for warmer seasons, and it feels very cooling whenever you apply as you keep this mask in the fridge!

Guerlain Super Aqua Hydrating Mask

A thick white creamy texture. However, it doesn't feel as rich as Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask. When you apply it, you will feel that it is water based although it's a cream mask. Your skin feels hydrated instantly and after washing it off your skin feels much more comforting and soothing. This stays in my bathroom cabinet every year! By the way, this is quite heavily perfumed as you might have guessed since it's from Guerlain, so be aware if you have sensitive skin although it says this is suitable for all skin types.

Guerlain Super Aqua Hydrating Sheet Mask

I have been loving Guerlain Super Aqua serum since high school. The Super Aqua Sheet mask is VERY hydrating and has been my autumn / winter favourite since then. Its emulsion like serum on cotton mask, just like traditional Guerlain Super Aqua serum. Very luxurious spa for skin, I really adore this mask! If you have dry and/or dehydrated skin, you should definitely try this out!

Guerlain Super Aqua Eye Patch

This is a very expensive eye patch, but I have to admit that I cannot help using it especially over the warmer seasons T_T. It does not make any mess around the eye area, and it make a perfect canvas for eye makeup! I like to keep this in the fridge and use it for morning SOS treat for my puffy eyes. This is more about hydration, so if you have major wrinkle problems, you might need to use this in conjunction with other anti-wrinkle treatment.

Fresh Rose Face Mask

Fresh Rose Face Mask

Cooling gel texture with real crushed rose petals. This mask has been in my shower during warmer weather since high school. You simply need to leave it on whilst you take a shower, and wash it off. It feels very fresh and a bit tingly if your skin is dehydrated at the beginning. I can imagine people with more normal to oily skin would love this mask!

By Terry Radiance Renewing Mask (now discontinued) & By Terry Firming Lift Mask

I adore By Terry’s makeup range, and trying her masks was a bit of challenge for me since I am a bit skeptical about a makeup brand being good at skincare. However, I really love these masks and have been using them for the last a few years already! :O As her make-up range never broke my skin out, these masks work very well on my skin without breakouts. With By Terry Radiance Renewing Mask, I have been enjoying it especially after long stressful flight and on the days when I do not get much sleep. I leave it on overnight and I wake up with much more rested and even skin! :D As for By Terry Firming Lift Mask, just consider that it has much more of a focus on deeper hydration and comfort on your skin. I love using it after having a long day outside. Must-haves all year round!

Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm

This balm is free of mineral oil! If you are aware, there are many high end luxurious brands which contain mineral oil in their moisturisers and cleansers surprisingly. AND I do not like them. So I was looking for an alternative to a famous cleansing oil (or mineral oil lol no offence), I found this cleansing balm 4 years ago. Ever since then, I haven’t found any cleansing balm or even cleansing oil to replace it!

It takes off all the makeup and dirt, I LOVE this. Enough talk about cleansing. For colder seasons when I really need quick intense hydration, I often use this cleansing balm as a hydrating mask for 10-15 minutes. Then, I wipe off with a muslin cloth and rinse off with lukewarm water. It works and smells divine. If you are someone who loves multi-functional stuff, then this is right for you.

Although this cleansing balm may not break your skin out since it does not contain mineral oil, I still think that oilier skin people should use lighter textured cleansers rather than balm types. Or you should finish your cleansing with a foaming cleanser after using cleansing balm.
