Chanel Review > Le Jour / La Nuit / Le Weekend de Chanel (Resychronizing Skincare / Detox / PMS)

Published by Jasmine Seo

There are lots of factors that mess with our biorhythm including irregular sleep, stress etc. It may sound pretty standard as it seems that it has become an unofficial norm in modern city life. That's right. We rush in the morning to get ready for work or school. And non-stop running in our mind for busy schedule throughout the day. By the time we get home, we're all worn out. Then, the busy cycle at home starts: cooking, doing extra housework and/or homework, getting ready for bed..etc. If not, we all find ourselves either at the bar or restaurant socialising until dawn :P. Indeed, we have many things to be done within 24 hours minus however long we can sleep at night. From the irregular lifestyle, our skin is also losing its own biorhythm.

Le Jour de Chanel, La Nuit de Chanel & Le Weekend de Chanel

There, that's when Chanel Resynchronizing Skincare comes in handy. It has been around for the past couple years now, but somehow I've been coming back to their Resynchronizing Skincare every year since 2013, especially during hot and humid seasons. If you are either a skincare minimalist, a frequent traveler, the one who has an irregular lifestyle or wants to try as part of your detox routine, it might well worth checking Resynchronizing Skincare range. It's great for holidays seasons too!

One thing to be noted for those who are new to skincare, the products scent is quite potent, which is expected from Chanel. So if you are sensitive to fragrance, you probably want to check their fairly new La Solution 10 de Chanel instead. And let me tell you, Resynchronizing Skincare isn't a miracle range that brings a Wow factor. As I mentioned above, the focus is more on balancing and recovering the skin's own bio-clock, so if you're looking for something more dramatic, then you should check out their Sublimage Skincare range instead.

Le Jour de Chanel

Morning Reactivating Face Care

Benefits

Energizes skin so it can adapt to its environment throughout the day. Grasse Jasmine Extract invigorates the skin, while Salicylic Acid gently and gradually exfoliates to visibly minimize pores. Your complexion appears smooth and radiant, and ready to face the day.

If you have oily/combo skin, you can just use Le Jour de Chanel as a serum and moisturiser all in one as it's in a gel serum texture. It spreads very well, so you only need about two to three pumps to cover both the face and neck. It feels a bit cooling upon first contact with skin, and creates almost a fine film on top of skin along with a slight tightening and firming effect on the skin when it's fully massaged in and absorbed. So I wouldn't recommend to layer similar textured products with similar technology as it can be rubbed off.

By the way, it contains salicylic acid, so you might want to skip the product if you are pregnant. Having said that, it didn't seem to work that effectively on any hormonal breakouts that I got during PMS. It also didn't cause any breakouts though, which was a relief. I would say Le Jour de Chanel is a pretty basic gel serum that helps maintaining clear skin and gives a nice canvas to put make-up on.

My skin's quite dehydrated, so I've actually been using it as my boosting serum underneath my Guerlain Super-Aqua Hydrating serum or Jurlique Rose Balancing Serum. I've noticed that hydration lasts much longer when I used Le Jour de Chanel underneath than using the serum by itself.

La Nuit de Chanel

Evening Recharging Face Care

Benefits

Soothes and moisturizes skin to encourage nightly recovery. Frankincense Extract calms skin to prepare for the process of overnight repair, while Hyaluronic Acid helps restore skin’s plumpness and hydration. Your complexion appears supple upon awakening, with no signs of dullness.

To be straightforward, La Nuit de Chanel feels like a basic hydrating cream compared to other high-end brands. I've tested it by itself and with other serums and moisturisers layered underneath it, and I feel that my skin looked the best when I used it over the serums. La Nuit de Chanel is essentially a hydrating moisturiser, but its hydrating power isn't as long-lasting or strong as their Hydra Beauty range. And it doesn't moisturise deep into the skin, so if you have dry/dehydrated skin, make sure you put some extra hydrating serum and/or lotion underneath.

La Nuit de Chanel

I guess that's because it's not that oily in texture. Even though it may seem thick, once you put it on the skin it absorbs very neatly with almost no oily residue. Because of the texture, I've been actually using it during the daytime quite often underneath my Amore Pacific/ Laneige CC Cushions :3. It has indeed been a perfect daytime moisturiser/make-up primer >_<. LOL.

Le Weekend de Chanel

Weekly Renewing Face Care

Benefits

Enhances renewal and replenishes hydration to give skin a much-needed weekend break. Combined with relaxing Rose Water, a gentle Glycolic Acid Complex is gradually released for ideal exfoliation and lasting moisture. Skin is softer and more luminous for the week ahead.

The thing that I still notice now about this product is the spicy fruity scent. I feel that I will never get used to, which is quite uplifting, but I have a feeling that some might hate the scent. Well, to be honest, compared to other Chanel scents on skin care and fragrance, it smells a bit cheap..-_-

Le Weekend de Chanel

Regardless, I've been enjoying it, especially when I'm on my PMS O_O. I know, you are not supposed to use it like that way, but hey, it has actually been working well XD. It's in a regular emulsion texture that gives a velvety finish. Like the rest of Resynchronizing Skincare, there's not much of an oily feel. I would say the hydration level is in between Le Jour de Chanel and La Nuit de Chanel. The hydration power of Le Weekend de Chanel doesn't feel superficial on skin unlike La Nuit de Chanel, but that doesn't mean it quenches skin. It just keeps skin moisturised by itself pretty well, as long as your skin type falls in the category of normal/combo/oily.

It contains glycolic acid, so if you have some sensitivity, you might want to reconsider the product. I'm not certain how much glycolic acid it has, but I guess it's not that much as my skin didn't tingle and never went red XD. Le Weekend de Chanel is a treatment, so don't overdo it as the whole purpose of the product is to help skin to set its PH level to 5.5 along with helping natural cell turnover.
