Kahina Giving Beauty Review > Antioxidant Mask (Gentle detoxifying mask/ Tips)

Published by Jasmine Seo

Kahina Giving Beauty carries some of the best natural face oils that I swear by as their oils have even been very gentle on my man's extremely dry sensitive fragile skin. As much as I love their face oils, I cannot help keep coming back to their Antioxidant Mask, especially during hot and cold seasons when my skin tends to be more sensitive from the extreme temperatures and dryness caused by heating and air conditioning.

If you have been put off by harsh deep cleansing masks and looking for a very very gentle one, then you are on the right spot ;).

Scent

Although Kahina Giving Beauty Antioxidant Mask contains some refreshing essential oils like eucalyptus and peppermint, there's no such a strong essential oil scent at all. There's a slight very calming hue to the scent, but I didn't notice those essential oils until I read the full ingredient list on the packaging >_<. I thought that the mask didn't have any scent to it, haha XD. I would say that it even smells again, very very gentle. This is great as I'm not very good with keeping up with some of the essential oils personally as I get a headache or nausea.

Consistency

The mask is in a very pleasant creamy texture that goes on skin very smooth.

You're supposed to use it on slightly damp skin, and the mask spreads very smooth even with a small amount. Although they suggest you to put on a thin layer, you could layer a bit more if you desire as that's what I've been since my skin isn't that sensitive compared to my man's :3.

If you want to use like how I do, then it's very simple. You just need to put on another layer on top of the first layer. It's very buildable, so you can just layer locally on the area that you want to focus. After rinsing off, skin should feel soft to touch without any uncomfortable tightness.

Benefits

Scented with invigorating eucalyptus and mint, this multitasking facial mask is an essential component to any weekly skin care treatment regimen. Argan oil and silica-rich rhassoul clay from the Atlas mountains in Morocco combine with extracts of pomegranate and acai to:

  • Detoxify by drawing out impurities at the deepest level, replacing them with nourishing trace minerals
  • Stimulate collagen production and improve skin strength and elasticity
  • Deliver potent antioxidants to fight free-radical damage and reduce signs of aging
  • Gently exfoliate while leaving skin toned, smoother and more supple

Verdict & Tips

If you are someone who expects a dramatic transformation from the mask, then you should pass this one. Kahina Giving Beauty Antioxidant Mask won't bring you instant squeaky clean or even resurfaced skin. This mask seemed more suitable for those with sensitive skin including fragile eczema skin like my man who can't use anything says exfoliator on the packaging as he gets bad irritations. To be honest, my man never got any sensitivity from the mask, and you have no idea how happy I was to find a gentle cleansing mask for my man finally XD. If you have been reading other skincare products that I've written for sensitive skin, you would understand how careful I am in regards to what he uses on his skin.

Finding the right products for truly sensitive skin isn't that simple at all as natural organic skincare doesn't always mean they are always kind to any skin, which is the biased equation that seems to be heavily used in beauty marketing these days. I'm very sure that Beautémia readers are more enlightened and more critical thinking, but hey, on a bright side, we strive for more knowledge thanks to the heavy marketing from beauty industry, right? :). Anyway, Kahina Giving Beauty Antioxidant Mask is the only cleansing mask that doesn't give any redness on my man's fragile skin. His skin never felt any discomfort afterwards, so it will work well on chronic dry skin conditions too.

How to Use

Two to three times a week, apply a thin layer on cleansed face. After seven to ten minutes, remove with warm water using circular motions to gently exfoliate. Mask should not be left to harden. Follow with Kahina Argan Oil or Serum. (Source)

I wouldn't say that the mask is particulary deep cleansing as it isn't from my experience so far. I've gone through many jars, and I use it more as a gentle detoxifying mask with more nourishing benefits. I'm not sure about your skin, but often my skin would feel not that ready for a deep cleansing mask, but at the same time not so ready for a hydrating mask either. This typically happens in Summer and during my cycle, and the Antioxidant Mask works perfectly fine as it's gentle enough to use few times a week. I would call Kahina Giving Beauty Antioxidant Mask a hybrid of cleansing and hydrating treatment since your skin will feel subtly refined and hydrated compared to other deep cleansing masks on the market. There's no over stripping or over hydrating for skin. I've noticed that it works particularly great before make-up for a smooth canvas without giving any redness. For those with black/whiteheads, I recommend you use a specific blackhead remover tool lightly while cleansing your face before using the mask. You should keep in mind that overdoing could cause permanently enlarged pores, so go on easy with it. I normally use a brush type just around the nose area lightly, and it has been working fine past years.

If you desire a more nourishing effect from the mask whether you have a super duper dry/sensitive skin or just want more of a spa-like ritual, I suggest you mix a few drops of one of their face oils upon application and then wipe off with a warm towel. You will find your skin with a beautiful natural glow in your skin at the end of the ritual. If you are the one seeking something more nutritious and ultra gentle detoxifying cleansing mask, I highly recommend you to try Kahina Giving Beauty Antioxidant Mask! :)
