Kat Burki Review > Balancing Elixir & Vitamin C Intensive Face Cream (Tips)

Published by Jasmine Seo

Do you generally have good skin? Do you care about healthy skin? Whether it's about maintaining or improving the health of your skin, then you are on the right page :). I will post more about other Kat Burki products later on, but let's start with two products that hooked me first.

Kat Burki Balancing Elixir, Vitamin C Intensive Face Cream & skincare

Kat Burki Balancing Elixir

I simply love Balancing Elixir! Although I chose cucumber scent, it doesn't smell like a cucumber. The scent is just soothing and very simple. There's no aroma scent, so if you get headaches from essential oils, then you will probably be fine with the elixir. Unlike most mists and toners on the market, Balancing Elixir doesn't feel cooling on skin, which can be good or bad. If you like the cooling sensation of the mist, then this might not be for you. However, I love the Balancing Elixir because it's very calming and nice to use at night and also in the cold morning.

Effectiveness

The elixir is also quite hydrating and comforting compared to other mists. Once fully absorbed into skin, there's a slight tightening and mattifying sensation without any discomfort. I'm still not sure whether it actually regulates sebum production, but I've noticed that it makes my skin glow and it feels as if it almost makes my skin more resistant to breakouts even during PMS. I think that those with oily skin types can even use the Balancing Elixir as an essence lotion underneath their regular sunscreen or moisturiser in summer.

The only downside is that it comes out of the spray bottle a bit strong and leaves foaming bubbles which you can actually feel and hear like a mild carbonated drink. Because of that, if you directly spray onto skin, then you will need to spread it out using your fingers. If you are used to fine mists, then you can just spray onto the palm of your hand and pat on your skin. If you happen to spray on a cotton pad instead, then use just a few spritz as it dispenses quite a lot at once. The foamy part is unavoidable, so you will still get that even on your cotton pad while wiping off your skin.

Benefits & Ingredients

A radiance boosting Balancing Elixir softens the skin with powerful Vitamin C-enriched antioxidants and calming Lavender Hydrosols. Purifying Cold Processed carrier oils, such as Tamanu, Carrot and Raspberry Seed, penetrate deeper into skin, enhancing the efficacy of your skincare system. Highly concentrated forms of Vitamin C, Grapefruit Seed Extract and Camu Camu Berry, which contains 30 times the Vitamin C of an Orange, helps support collagen production, brightens, lightens and tightens the skin for a firmer, more youthful glow.

Scent & Texture

Vitamin C Intensive Face Cream has a little thick emulsion cream consistency and the signature Kat Burki scent. It spreads very easily and penetrates into skin pretty fast, which was a pleasant surprise for a natural skincare brand. Having said that, you will still need to massage into skin for a few seconds for full absorption.

During the process, there's a slight warming sensation, which I quite like during colder seasons. However, if you naturally have lots of heat in your body, then you might find it a bit too warm. Well, I have normal to combination skin in summer most of the time, and I personally found it a little too rich and too warm unlike in autumn and winter.

Benefits & Ingredients

This lightweight and luxurious Vitamin C Intensive Face Cream glides onto skin and provides deep nourishment to help support collagen production while brightening, smoothing and firming the skin. Strengthened with 15% Vitamin C, it calms and heals while delivering powerful benefits and protecting against free radical damage. Further boosted by skin strengthening and anti-aging wild Reishi mushrooms and an Ocean Mineral Complex, this Vitamin C Intensive Face Cream is the perfect step in any anti-aging and brightening skincare system.

Effectiveness

There's no particular oily residue, but the cream feels very nourishing and hydrating.

It wraps skin with comfort and soothes skin instantly, and it also brings a very nice glow to skin. Although it isn't rich, I highly suggest you build it up slowly starting with a small amount, focusing on the areas that tend to get dry easily during the day. There's no doubt that Kat Burki Vitamin C Intensive Face Cream does work great on sensitive/dehydrated/dry skin types. I would say that the hydrating power is almost compatible with some of those high-end hydrating moisturisers including Chantecaille Flower Harmonizing Cream and La Mer Moisturizing Lotion.

However, the cream contains shea butter and other nourishing plant oils, so it may not work very well on people with oilier skin and/or those with skin that is reactive to some of the plant oils. So I recommend you to get a sample and try out at least for a few weeks to ensure you don't get any reaction before making any purchase. As for those with very dry skin type, you can actually mix a few drops of your favourite face oil with the cream or put a very thin layer of the oil using both of your palms. This boosts the hydration longevity and minimises your skin's hydration loss.
