La Prairie Review > Line Interception Power Duo (Tips)

Published by Jasmine Seo

It has been already a couple of years since La Prairie's Anti-Aging Rapid Response Booster (full review) launch as I recall. Indeed, it has been one of the most popular and fast result delivering serums in La Prairie, I'd say that it sort of brought back that oomph to their Anti-Aging collection after a long time of mediocrity. It was a great hit and still is especially considering how reasonably priced it is compared to other more expensive La Prairie serums based on my almost 10 years of experience trying all of their products.

La Prairie Line Interception Power Duo & skincare

Perhaps that was the reason for their new launch this month, Line Interception Power Duo? Or it could've been inspired by their other greatest hit of all time Cellular Power Charge Night (full review) judging from the name power and the packaging. The difference between those two products is that one comes out of the pump to be mixed, whilst the new launch has two different types of creams for day and night. Regardless, they share the solid all-in-one concept, which makes skincare much easier and convenient.

Scent & Consistency

Day Cream SPF 30 PA+++

The day cream smells just like their Anti-Aging Day Emulsion SPF 30 and Day Cream SPF 30, so I got quite confused whether they just put their existing day moisturiser into the pump at first :P.

The texture is quite interesting as it looks a lot like their Day Cream SPF 30, yet it goes on like their Day Emulsion SPF 30.

So if you like either of those, there's already a high chance that you might like their new addition. The finish may feel quite close to their Day Emulsion SPF 30, but it feels a lot lighter once it's fully absorbed.

I personally find the new one penetrates into skin much faster, and it gives a velvety glowy finish, which I find it to be great under make-up.

Night Cream

The scent of night cream is also very similar to other products in the The Anti-Aging Collection. However, the texture is very light that it has now become the lightest moisturiser within the collection and also among the entire La Prairie range.

It's in a lightweight creamy consistency that leaves no oily residue but only a smooth velvety finish. It goes on very easily and absorbs very fast.

Having said that, if you rub or even massage the skin a bit too much, the cream can start peeling off, so I recommend you not to use the cream for massaging purpose although the peeling is very subtle and rare.

So other than its sleek and more hygienic packaging, now, the question is,

How is Line Interception Power Duo different from their existing other Anti-Aging Day moisturisers and night cream?

Hydration & Skin types

I'm honestly very surprised how much lighter the new Day Cream SPF 30 PA+++ and Night Cream feels on my skin compared to their moisturisers. If you have normal to combination skin, the new one will feel much better on your skin as there's no uber hydration which La Prairie is well known for. The finish is actually quite similar to Sisley All Day All Year Essential Anti-Aging Day Care although the La Prairie one feels lighter in texture.

Having said that, it does lack somewhat on the hydration front, so more dehydrated to drier skin might want to stick to either Anti-Aging Day Emulsion / Cream SPF 30 or other La Prairie moisturisers instead unless you want to try the new one for warmer seasons. I wouldn't say that they aren't hydrating as it doesn't feel superficial. However, it's true that they don't seem to have that hydration longevity and deeper penetration that most of La Prairie moisturisers offer.

Technology

The base of Line Interception Power Duo is more peptides, which fight and reduce wrinkles, than existing their day and night creams. On top of that, they really powered up skin protection from external aggressors and proteolysis which control damaged proteins by breaking down the peptide bond. The day and night creams in Line Interception Power Duo tackles three kinds of wrinkles caused by sun damage, facial expressions and natural skin aging process.

In Line Interception Power Duo, the day cream offers the same SPF 30, however with UVA (PA+++) and also IRA (aka infrared-A) protections. Yes, it offers much more advanced day time skin protection from external aggressors in that sense. If you are not very familiar with IRA, IRA penetrates into deeper layers of skin than UVA and accelerates premature skin aging by changing dermal structural proteins[1][2][3].

Unfortunately, IRA comes mostly from sun, but we also get it from household things like the microwave to a hot bath. So it isn't like we can cut it out 100% sadly. However, we can still reduce the exposure to a certain extent by adding more anti-oxidants in our daily life including our skincare routine. Regardless, Line Interception Power Duo Day Cream SPF 30 PA+++ is one of the few high-end anti-aging day cream that offers IRA protection. That's great news, right? :).

Effectiveness

No wonder La Prairie claims that you will see an improvement in 14 days just like how they advertised for their Anti-Aging Rapid Response Booster. However, I'm not skeptical this time, because it should work if you get that much skin matrix protection along with stimulating collagen and elastin production in the long run. Although I've already noticed smooth skin without any breakouts after waking up, personally, I always feel that it's always too soon to tell whether to believe these sorts of advanced tech product claims unless you've used the product for at least for 5-10 years with constant usage as it requires true observation on your skin over time. Haha, I know, now it sounds quite similar to Sisley All Day All Year Essential Anti-Aging Day Care, doesn't it? :3 And as you can see, this is more about lifetime investment with a leap of faith in the technology that the company uses.

Anyway, if you would like to try Line Interception Power Duo, I highly recommend you pair it with their Anti-Aging Rapid Response Booster or even any other La Prairie serums as you will see a smoother and improved complexion even faster. If you are thinking of using the night cream alone without any serum underneath, then you might be better off trying their Cellular Power Charge Night instead as it seems to show results a bit faster than the night cream. As for plumping, I personally find Cellular Radiance Night Cream far superior and way more hydrating.

Although Line Interception Power Duo doesn't say anything about cell longevity which is a huge selling card for their Anti-Aging Day Cream and Night Cream, I think that you will still get some longevity benefits as its core lies in keeping your skin matrix at the optimum level. Regardless, I'm very glad to see that La Prairie seems to be working hard on bringing much lighter formulas, looking back past few years, which leaves me already quite curious for the next launch :).
