I recently picked up an MSI GS60 Ghost Laptop to replace my old desktop computer which was having a few problems. I've had it for around five months now and am really happy with it.
The SSD drive loads Windows much faster than I'm used to and the performance is good enough to play the games I'm interested in at pretty much max settings.
The screen is 15.6" with a 1920x1080 resolution so it's on the larger side of laptop screens, but I don't need to carry it around much so it works out fine.
It's about 2cm thick and weighs just under 2kg. It comes with a sleeve-style case that fits it just right. The thinness is one of its key selling points but it's because of this that it tends to get a little hot, I'd recommend not playing games with it on your actual lap because you might burn yourself. It hasn't overheated or anything yet though.
The keyboard is backlit and the laptop includes software that allows you to customise the colours of the lights.
The laptop's speakers includes 4.1 Dynaudio Premium Speakers with a Subwoofer. The sound quality it produces is far better than most laptops I've had experience with, which is nothing of course to a decent $50+ speaker setup, regardless it's great for a laptop.
Verdict
The GS60 Ghost series echoes lightly some of the design decisions of Alienware's laptops; going for a sleek, sexy laptop with emphasis on the keyboard lighting. The design is no where near as intricate, or in your face, but the power of the laptop remains approximately, making it a far more affordable option as a gaming laptop.
I highly recommend the GS60 Ghost series of laptops, for both gamers and people who need some power in their laptop like programmers, designers, engineers, etc. Which particular laptop depends on your needs, if you want to play games with super modern graphics you would probably be better off with one of the higher-end models like the 3K.
Currently it costs $1699.99 on Amazon, similar models can be compared on MSI's website.
