Dior Review > DIORSNOW Bloom Perfect Brightening Perfect Moist Cushion SPF 50 ( vs Amore Pacific / Laneige CC Cushion)

Published by Jasmine Seo

I remember that there was a rumor a few years ago on how Dior would launch their first CC cushion through the collaboration with Amore Pacific company that first introduced the CC cushion technology to the world. I've been looking forward to it as the CC cushions from most of the brands that are owned by Amore Pacific company have been very successful, and hey, when it meets Dior, it certainly made me curious.

Over the last year or two, I've come across different CC cushions that came out from major big western companies, and to be honest, they didn't impress me so far that much at all. Possibly because of those disappointments that I got from the duplicates, I've been somehow waiting for Dior's even more :3. If you ever tried Dior skin care before, then you all would know that they are pretty effective although it isn't that well known compared to their competitors such as Chanel and Lancome. This is important to me as CC cushions are supposed to have some skin care benefits at least to a certain extent. And of course, that is one of the main reasons why I've been obsessed with Amore Pacific CC cushions (full review).

Regardless, the company has finally launched DIORSNOW Bloom Perfect Brightening Perfect Moist Cushion in Asia in Spring this year. As you can tell from the name, it is part of Diorsnow collection, which targets pigmentation and discolouration. And I've been waiting for summer to test it to see how well it actually works in sweaty weather XD.

DIORSNOW Bloom Perfect Brightening Perfect Moist Cushion is made in Korea, which secures the quality of the CC cushion as the majority of popular CC cushions originate from Korea. It also comes with a refill that is just like Korean CC cushions as they all have refills.

Benefits

I'm not quite certain if Dior will bring out different types of CC cushions in the future like the majority of Korean companies do. Anyways, DIORSNOW Bloom Perfect Brightening Perfect Moist Cushion is very light in texture. It doesn't go cakey and there's no strokes, not even any oily or sticky residue. It has a very nice natural finish that gives an enhanced / even toned look. Although it's fragranced, I've been using it around my eyes, and it has been working great. It never made my eyes watery or sore, and gives a bit of coverage around my dark circles, which is an added bonus :).

Shade & Coverage

I have been using DIORSNOW Bloom Perfect Brightening Perfect Moist Cushion in shade 020 on top of Dior's new ONE ESSENTIAL City Defense SPF 50 (full review). It's actually the deepest shade, but we all know that it isn't :P. I was a bit worried about it in the beginning, but it turned out that the shade blended into my summer skin pretty well. By the way, I'm in between shade 30 and 40 in Chanel foundations and in warm beige in La Prairie Skin Caviar Foundation just for a reference.

It is buildable, but if you want to cover something, then it's best to use a concealer as it won't cover fully anyways. Coverage is indeed pretty light, about the same as other CC cushions. It's perfect for a natural make-up especially when you need a quick enhancement. I've been enjoying it very much especially when I take my dogs out or go grocery shopping as I don't want to look too done-up, but look neat and polished a bit.

Effectiveness

Considering the nature of the Diorsnow collection, it is a shame that I haven't seen brightening effect (eg. lightening pigmentation) so far, but it has indeed been helping my skin not to get sunburned. And I've also noticed that my face seems less tanned than the rest of my body. I've been taking DIORSNOW Bloom Perfect Brightening Perfect Moist Cushion with me whenever I go out and I've been re-applying it once every two hours.

As I mentioned earlier, it is very light so it makes it very easy to re-apply throughout the day. It doesn't smear or make my face too cakey. And it feels really great on my skin as it has a cooling effect like Korean CC cushions. I really recommend DIORSNOW Bloom Perfect Brightening Perfect Moist Cushion especially those with oily / combo skin types and/or those living in hot and humid countries. Although it isn't categorised as a mattifying product, I've noticed that it somehow controls sebum throughout the day without any matte feeling and helps my skin look pretty fresh. The best part is that it never broke my skin out regardless of how many layers that I put on throughout the day <3.

Dilemma

With all those lovely packaging and benefits, there were two things that bothered me the whole time. First and the foremost, the puff that comes with DIORSNOW Bloom Perfect Brightening Perfect Moist Cushion isn't like Amore Pacific company's at all. Well, you can tell that the puff looks and feels different as the Dior one has more of make-up sponge-like texture and feeling on the skin. It also feels quite thick too. It can be good, as it gives an almost airbrushed natural look once you put it on. However, it also absorbs way too much product :/. I've noticed that the puff doesn't release the product very well so you end up using more product. Unlike Dior's, Amore Pacific ones absorbs fast and release fast at the same time, which is the key difference between those two. Since I don't like to waste the product on the tissue everytime I use the CC cushion, I've actually been using the CC cushion puff that I have from Amore Pacific's :3.

My second complaint is its hydration. I understand the fact that the nature of the collection is supposed to be lightweight, but it isn't hydrating enough for me. I have some dehydration issues even in summer although I don't have a particularly dry skin type. I have been using Korean CC cushions especially in summer for the past years as I can layer it up not just as a sun protectant but also as an additional hydrator throughout the day. It's true that DIORSNOW Bloom Perfect Brightening Perfect Moist Cushion will work beautifully on oily / combo skin types, but you will indeed need to put a good hydrating moisturiser on underneath if your skin is on the drier side.
