Guerlain Review > Orchidée Impériale The Essence-in-Lotion (Toner)

Published by Jasmine Seo

My family has been using the Guerlain Orchidée Impériale line for well over a decade now, and their renewed version of toner, Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Essence-in-Lotion, still brings positive results to skin. I personally find it lighter in its actual texture than their other toners, yet it still hydrates skin to a deeper level than them.

Benefits

The Essence-in-Lotion is the first step in Guerlain's Orchidée Impériale complete age-defying ritual. It is enriched with the new Orchidée Essential Water complex, coupled with the revitalizing power of Cell Respiration™ technology.

Combining the freshness and delicacy of a lotion with the roundness and power of an essence, the Essence-in-Lotion possesses a unique sense-enriching quality typical of Guerlain skincare. With remarkable efficacy, it intensively moisturizes and improve the natural hydration of the skin. Ideally hydrated plumped, the skin appears smooth, supple, soft and radiant, ready to receive the beneficial effects of the Imperial Ritual.

Formula

Enriched with the new Orchid Essential Water complex, the Essence-in-Lotion combines the comprehensive age-defying efficacy of Orchidée Impériale with optimum hydration. Consisting of an aqueous extract of orchid combined with low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, this complex moisturizes and helps to improve the natural hydration of the skin.

The Essence-in-Lotion has an incredibly fine, light texture and reveals a skin hydrated appearance plumped, smoother and visibly more beautiful skin.

For 15 years, Guerlain Research has been pushing back the frontiers of cellular longevity. Now it has discovered the extraordinary powers of a duo of orchids found in it Cell Respiration™ technology, which delivers superior skin beautifying effects. All the visible signs of aging are minimised: wrinkles and fine lines fade, the skin appears and feels more firm, dense and supple, the complexion is even and more radiant. The skin is infused with a breath of life.

Verdict

Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Essence-in-Lotion isn't fragrance free, and it's also quite high in phenoxyethanol content along with other scent related ingredients. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend using it near the eye area just to be safe, but I personally haven't experienced any sensitivity after all these years. It just leaves skin glowing and well hydrated such that I tend to reduce my skincare steps when I use Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Essence-in-Lotion.

It's also a toner that I like to use when my skin becomes a little spotty after having breakouts as it seems to heal those spots faster. I would certainly recommend pairing Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Essence-in-Lotion with any skin regenerating products as part of a hydrating and/or anti-aging skincare routine. Though, I sometimes like to use Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Essence-in-Lotion just by itself at night when I'm on my monthly, and it just hydrates my skin just enough that my skin doesn't go too reactive.
