I recently got this charger for my man and wanted to write up about his experiences with it so far XD.
Tumi is a company originally founded in Peru before moving to be based in the USA, it's best known as a manufacturer of suitcases and other travel bags.
From a functional standpoint it can't really be faulted, the shell houses a 5,000 mAh battery which is about 2-3 times the charge held by today's flagship phones (Nexus 5 is 2,300 mAh, iPhone 5s is 1,570 mAh). The charger lived up to expectations from this perspective.
Priced at $145 USD it's definitely in the upper-end price-wise of portable chargers. The primary differentiators for the Tumi charger are:
- The charger has great build quality and feels very solid in your hand
- A protective case
- A flexible cable that doesn't develop kinks
- A 5 year warranty, from a little looking around it seems most other models typically come with 1-2 year warranties.
I would recommend this charger for people who want a very solid charger and don't mind paying a little extra for a little more design flair. You can purchase the charger from Neiman Marcus, they are currently running a promotion if you spend over $200 you get $50 back!
If you're after something a little more affordable, there are many options on Amazon. The main thing you want to look for in chargers are their physical dimensions and the charge they hold mAh (higher is better).
