111SKIN Review > Celestial Black Diamond Cream (VS La Mer Crème de La Mer)

Published by Jasmine Seo

I'm starting to think if there has been any negative reviews on 111SKIN products from me so far 🤔. I don't think there has been any, and oh well, this will also be another positive review on their Celestial Black Diamond Cream which is the most prestigious cream that 111SKIN offers.

Scent

111SKIN products typically carry a unique sweet floral scent, and Celestial Black Diamond Cream is no different. I can tell which product is 111SKIN's even with my eyes closed, that's how distinctive the scent is. It's not fragrance free, but it's listed on the bottom of the ingredient list. And I haven't got any headache or breakouts from it, so I don't see it being a big issue unless one's skin is very sensitive to scents in general.

Full Ingredients

AQUA / WATER / EAU, ISOPROPYL MYRISTATE, HYDROGENATED PALM OIL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, GLYCERIN, PEG-100 STEARATE, BENZYL ALCOHOL, CETEARETH-25, PEG-7 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, ZINC OXIDE, HYDROGENATED JOJOBA OIL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, AESCULUS HIPPOCASTANUM EXTRACT, SODIUM ASCORBYL PHOSPHATE, GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA (LICORICE / RÉGLISSE) ROOT EXTRACT, PRUNUS ARMENIACA (APRICOT / ABRICOT) KERNEL OIL, POLYSORBATE 20, RETINYL PALMITATE, TOCOPHEROL, LINOLEIC ACID, XANTHAN GUM, CENTELLA ASIATICA EXTRACT, ACETYL CYSTEINE, DIAMOND POWDER, PARFUM / FRAGRANCE.

Consistency

111SKIN Celestial Black Diamond Cream has an interesting texture, which I actually quite like. It's in a balm similar to Crème de La Mer, and when it melts into skin, it kind of gives a finish similar to La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream.

I would say that 111SKIN Celestial Black Diamond Cream feels lighter than Crème de La Mer, and a lot smoother and softer. The best part is that there isn't the typical veil finish that the majority of balm textured creams give.

Rather, it gives a smooth creamy finish with a youthful glow. The cream is also buildable, so I would start with a small amount and apply more on the areas that needs more focus.

Benefits

This restorative and highly concentrated treatment combines technologically advanced ingredients with ground-breaking medical research to target ageing. The cream utilizes an innovative delivery system of rare diamond particles believed to have formed in space. Black diamond particles are microspheres that penetrate the deeper dermal layer of the skin in order to transport three essential youth restoring ingredients: patented NAC Y2 formula, Collagen type I and III and Hyaluronic acid.

On a cellular level, the cream regenerates the production of these key cell-fortifying substances in order to restore a youthful appearance.

  • Centella Asiatica stimulates the synthesis of collagen type I and III
  • NAC Y2 stimulates the ability of cells to regenerate and boosts the functions of the epidermis
  • Hyaluronic acid protects, captures, and retains moisture
  • ReGeniStem visibly brightens the skin
  • Vitamin E protects against the environmental changes
  • Hydroquinone-free
  • Paraben, paraffin, silicone and sulphate free

Verdict

Whether you are on a hydration focused skincare regime or a firming/lifting one, I think that 111SKIN Celestial Black Diamond Cream will work well with any skincare routine. I personally found that hydration and skin regeneration is the cream's major strength. For my normal skin, 111SKIN Celestial Black Diamond Cream is still a bit on the rich side to be used on hot summer days, but the cream works well for the rest of the seasons including during seasonal changes.

It doesn't leave any veil or sticky residue behind, so you can basically use any type of foundation and suncare product of your choice, which is something I really like about it. I haven't noticed excessive sebum issues around the T-zone that is a quite common phenomena in anti-aging products. Meantime, I haven't got breakouts during the transition from autumn to winter, so it seems that 111SKIN Celestial Black Diamond Cream keeps skin balanced pretty well in terms of hydration.

I wouldn't call it a La Mer cream dupe, but I do feel that the way 111SKIN Celestial Black Diamond Cream works is quite similar to La Mer creams as they both are basically all-in-one moisturisers and the result you get is similar. If you have been thinking about getting a La Mer cream, but looking for something in between La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream and Crème de La Mer, 111SKIN Celestial Black Diamond Cream is a good candidate.
