La Prairie White Caviar Illuminating Clarifying Lotion was the very first boosting lotion for the company to launch, but it took a few years to be available in the United States like their Swiss Cellular White Intensive Illuminating Masks. At least I'm glad that I no longer need to ask my mum to ship those here for me as they are readily available :3. As you might have already guessed, I've been using the White Caviar first essence for many years now, and it seems that it has been working well as I haven't seen any further increase in the number of sun spots.
Scent & Consistency
La Prairie White Caviar Illuminating Clarifying Lotion has a typical refreshing floral signature White Caviar line scent, and it comes in a rather fresh and slightly silky/watery consistency. There's no alcohol driven cooling sensation upon application, but you could keep it in the fridge and use it if you want the cooling feel.
As it's in a semi-transparent watery liquid form with a white hue, you will need to use your cotton pads for the best efficacy if you decide to use it as an all-in-one (toner/ boosting essence) treatment, although you could just pour it onto your hands and pat them into skin gently if you use a different toner or you want a more moisturising effect along with slight firming sensation.
To be honest, there isn't much there to notice instantly. Skin feels subtly hydrated and well-prepped for the next step with a glow. The glow that you get is adjustable as you could use it with a cotton pad for a subtle glow and with hands for more enhanced glow. I quite often do both steps especially in Summer when I need my make-up to be thin and when the weather is way too hot and humid.
THE FIRST STEP TO BRIGHTER, FIRMER SKIN
Created as a pre-treatment, this lotion, enriched with golden caviar extract, gently exfoliates to promote clarity and allow better penetration of the serum and moisturizer that follow.
Your first step to brighter, firmer skin. Follow with White Caviar Illuminating Serum, White Caviar Illuminating Eye Serum, White Caviar Illuminating Eye Cream and White Caviar Illuminating Moisturizing Cream.
- Contains a unique peptide complex to gently exfoliate the skin while reducing the appearance of discoloration to maintain even skin tone
- Helps increase firmness and elasticity
Although the company doesn't say, I like to use the White Caviar boosting lotion as a mini facial mask during warmer seasons. I just grab 2 big cotton pads that you can get, and halve them to thin out the layer. With those 4 cotton pads that you just got, saturate them into the White Caviar lotion and place them onto forehead, cheeks and lower part of the face. I normally leave them on for about 5-10 minutes depending on how quickly my skin absorbs the essence.
And if you don't feel that the lotion isn't hydrating enough, but you still want to use it, then I suggest you to mix a drop or two of face oil into the lotion and pat it onto skin. I personally like to use Kahina Giving Beauty Prickly Pear Seed Oil for Spring and Summer and Kahina Giving Beauty Argan Oil for the other seasons. White Caviar boosting lotion isn't ideal for sensitive skin, but I still haven't got any irritation from using it. Based on my experience, it works best with any hydrating and brightening skin care regimes. Though, I would avoid using any types of over-exfoliation and chemical peels as your skin can get sensitised very easily if you incorporate into a brightening skincare routine.
The bottom line is that you cannot get rid of all the pigmentations that you may have on your skin solely with topical products as they are not laser treatments or prescribed ointments that you get from the dermatologist's. Meaning, La Prairie White Caviar Illuminating Clarifying Lotion may help with control and prevention of unwanted spots, but there are conditions to get the most benefit out of it. First, you need to apply a right amount (teaspoonful) of a reliable sunscreen religiously once every two hours. If you are someone who perspires easily, then you will need to pat dry skin with a cloth, and re-apply even if it didn't hit two hours. The last thing is that you need to be on the right skincare routine. People often forget about the importance of hydrating skin when they are on a brightening skincare routine. Skin needs to be well-balanced and hydrated to function better and prevent any future signs of aging as skin becomes more resilient.
Nevertheless, La Prairie White Caviar Illuminating Clarifying Lotion is a good one to pair with most of the skincare regime, and it's indeed pleasant to use for those who live in a hot and humid climate condition. It won't add any unwanted oiliness or stickiness even when you following with La Prairie White Caviar Crème Extraordinaire Illuminating cream and/or White Caviar Illuminating Pearl Infusion as a next step. It will simply boost the efficacy of the overall skincare. Having said that, the boosting lotion by itself won't substitute your regular serum or cream unless you have very oily skin.
