I'm not a sporty bag type person in general, but I discovered Patagonia Atom 8L Sling Backpack last year while I was looking for a bag that I can carry around easily when I go out with my dogs.
I'm a backpack lover, but it hasn't worked out that well especially when I have my dogs around either for hiking or just generally for walking around with them.
Anyway, Patagonia Atom 8L Sling Backpack has been a life changer as I can easily move the bag to the front if I need anything from the inside of the bag.
I have been wearing it across my body, and it has been very comfortable as it's all padded along the strap and the back of the bag.
It doesn't say it's waterproof, but it has been pretty much waterproof for me as I haven't had any issues my goodies getting wet inside the bag.
It's a small/medium sized bag, yet it's very functional as it has front zip pockets including on the strap and there's also one divider in the bag.
It won't fit any laptops, but small tablets should fit. The strap is adjustable, and my man likes the bag too so I got the same bag in different colours this month.
I also got one for my mum as she likes bags that don't put so much pressure on the shoulder side. I actually saw a boy in the same bag at Redmond Town Center last month, that I thought was a cute idea if you want to have a matching bag. Of course, on children, the bag may look like a regular backpack to them. Anyway, Patagonia Atom 8L Sling Backpack is very well-constructed for the price that you pay, so I recommend you to check it out if you look for something lightweight yet comfortable.
