Chantecaille Vital Essence is one of the companies holy grail products, which I've consistently kept coming back to over the past 6 years. I'm mostly certain that the majority of people would get caught by its stunning presentation of the serum with a swirl design. I absolutely have no idea how they come up with it, but I really love it as it reminds me of the shape of DNA. Not to mention its eye-catching design, the product by itself works brilliant as an all year round hydrating serum for both the face and eye area. I know, it is very rare for a luxury skincare brand to have a serum designed for both areas, but oh-la-la, Chantecaille has one for us :).
The hydrating serum is beautifully rose scented, which isn't very surprising as Rosa Damascena flower water is the very first ingredient. Having said that, it's also quite high in phenoxyethanol, so if you have a sensitivity to it, you might want to do a patch test beforehand. I've been using the serum all over my face even including lips, and I didn't get any irritation, so everything has been working well for me.
Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Water/aqua/eau, Pentylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Potassium Hydroxide, Squalane, Glycine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Stearic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Polyglyceryl-2 Isostearate, Simmondsia Chinesis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Dimethicone, Glycol Distearate, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Bentonite, Isosteareth-20, Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol, Epilobium Fleischeri Extract, Natto Gum, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Prunus Yedoensis Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, Lonicifera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Vaccinium Myrtillus Leaf Extract [citronellol, Geraniol]
Chantecaille Vital Essence has a non-runny gel texture that feels dense as the form doesn't changes after pumping out of the bottle.
However, once you start massaging into skin, it doesn't feel that rich or dense at all.
It's very easy to spread, and most importantly, the serum is buildable. So you could start with a small amount first, and gradually layer more on the areas that tend to get more dry. During the process, the amount control is very important as if you put too much, it may feel a little sticky (but never oily) due to the nature of hydrating serums.
Nevertheless, the serums instantly quenches skin along with a beautiful glow. You can also feel a firming sensation to some extent if you apply right. I start spreading the serum using both of my hands with an upwards motion including jowls as if I wrap my face. I don't use any rolling massaging motion with Vital Essence as I enjoy the firming sensation that I get from it.
A revolutionary face and eye serum infused with powerful botanicals that act as hydrating boosters promoting a plumper looking appearance. This weightless and gentle serum features antioxidants and soothing extracts that work to reduce the appearance of redness.

Effectiveness / Tips
Even though Chantecaille Vital Essence contains some skin allergens that people with very sensitive skin may react to, it still stays as a great hydrating serum universally. I quite often used it just by itself whenever I was in a rush back in Australia as it worked great as a all-in-one product by double layering it underneath my sunscreen and make-up. In Summer when the weather is very hot and humid, you can just put one layer and skip your regular moisturiser as it's very soothing and hydrating. The formulation is superb that it also has a great longevity of hydration, which makes it an excellent companion for Summer and Winter holidays including long-haul flights. Thanks to the universal texture, it goes well with any kinds of consistency of products that you may follow with including mineral and chemical sunscreens without leaving weird streaks on the face or peeling off.
For those with oily skin, I would suggest you to apply the serum when skin is slightly wet with a spray mist as it will go even thinner and help with absorption. For the rest of the skin types, you could basically customise the serum according to your hydration needs by layering or even mixing a few drops of face oil into the serum if you desire to use it like a moisturiser. If you have mature skin though, and you want to give more oomph to your skin with firming and lifting sensation, I would suggest you to use a very affordable yet effective Asterwood Naturals anti-aging serum that you can use like a pre-treatment underneath Chantecaille Vital Essence using the same application method that I've explained in the Consistency section above. I've been using it together for over a year now and they've working great in synergy. Well-hydrated skin is a key for beautiful skin aging, and I would suggest Chantecaille Vital Essence to anyone living in any weather condition as long as your skin isn't very eczema-prone. It's indeed great value (both quantity and quality) for how much you pay compared to other luxury skincare competitors on the market.
