Honestly, I haven't been that impressed with La Mer serums so far, apart from their The Concentrate that I've been using for many years. As you all know, I personally prefer to stick to the brands and products that I believe to work on my skin, so I wasn't even sure if I should try their most expensive Genaissance de La Mer serum. Nevertheless, their marketing always puts a great emphasis on conveying its even more miraculous effect on Genaissance serum, so I decided to give it a try to see if it's better than their other serums.

- La Mer The Concentrate VS Genaissance de La Mer
Frankly speaking, I wouldn't say that I tried it with particularly high expectations despite its price tag, but let's see how it turned out!🙂
Scent & Consistency
Genaissance de La Mer serum smells like their moisturizing cream, which is very generic for La Mer, but I would also add that the scent is more subtle and somewhat spicier. It doesn't smell of essential oil or even floral. The scent by itself doesn't feel that overpowering overall, yet it smells rather unique. My man with sensitive skin likes it simply because it smells manly; like a soft version of an after-shave.
The serum essence is in a runny gel texture, which isn't as thick or heavy as The Concentrate. It goes onto skin very silky smooth and penetrates into skin fast.
The finish is pleasant as it doesn't leave any filmy or sticky residue.
It doesn't feel matte nor oily, so it will go well with most of skin types. It has my favourite texture of their serums by far. Well, it better be, right? Think about how much I paid for it!😝
Benefits
This age-transcending serum essence was inspired when a scientist at the Max Huber Research Labs discovered crystals forming in a beaker of Miracle Broth™. Extraordinarily pure, the Crystal Miracle Broth is slow-crafted in extremely small batches to reach its ultimate potency. This advanced broth infuses skin with the life-generating energies of the sea, helping it visibly renew from within. In moments, genesis begins. Day after day, skin is infused with a new look of life. Rejuvenation becomes reality.
How to Use
Use twice a day after Treatment Lotion, apply a small amount onto fingertips and gently sweep over face and neck. Follow with appropriate form of La Mer moisturizer.

Verdict
I have been enjoying Genaissance de La Mer The Serum Essence a lot more over Spring and Summer mainly due to its consistency. If you don't like to layer much underneath your make-up, the serum will work fine as it's compatible with different textured products. It leaves skin satiny soft and smooth with a natural inner glow from within, so I have been using it especially for evening out occasions underneath my foundation. Having said that, you might not like it as much if you tend to have dry/sensitive skin that requires more intensive hydrating and soothing treatment. The overall hydration it provides is quite low-average compared to other luxury skincare competitors at a similar price range.

In other words, it may work better on normal/combination/oily skin types or for those who live in a hot and humid climate. The significant downside for me, though, is that it doesn't give much firming and lifting effect whether it's instant or not. I really like how those tiny gold particles give a subtle glow to my skin, but it doesn't seem to do anything other than providing a bit of skin generation. I won't deny that it was very convenient over my monthly as it somewhat balances skin and soothes tiny hormonal breakouts. However, if you have mature skin, then the serum won't be the best for you as I didn't see much improvement in regards to firming and lifting.
