I've had mixed feelings towards La Mer's new launches other than their The Brilliance Brightening Mask. Unlike La Prairie and Sisley, it's been quite difficult for me to predict what to expect from La Mer's new releases in terms of results recently.
I personally don't think that absolutely all the products from the brand work wonders or are miraculous. I've been feeling more like this due to my huge disappointment in their recent launches...:/ Nevertheless, I still have faith in La Mer as their core products work well on my skin.
The Lifting and Firming Mask was introduced a couple of years ago, but I've resisted trying it until this year as I didn't see much result from their lifting serum. However, I changed my mind and decided to give a shot as I'm on my detox diet anyways.
Scent & Consistency
If you've been using their Creme de La Mer or any of their moisturisers, the scent won't be a problem as it pretty much smells the same. For those who are new to their products, La Mer contain some fragrance although it doesn't smell particularly artificial. So if you are generally sensitive to fragrance, you might want to check before purchasing.
The texture is very interesting as it's a dense gel cream. It's certainly thicker than Sisley Express Flower Gel Mask, and there's some bounciness when spreading. It spreads easily and goes on smooth, but I don't mean that it has jelly(jello)-like bounciness.
In addition to that, it feels quite moisture-rich as if I put their moisturiser on my skin instead. The difference is though, there's a slight veil effect with a light firming sensation while the mask is working.
This luxurious cream mask infuses skin with serum-strength sculpting power. Enriched with the legendary healing energies of our Concentrated Miracle Broth™ and the potency of the new Concentrated Lifting Ferment, it visibly tightens, firms and refines the face and neck. Day after day, skin looks more uplifted and rejuvenated. Resilient and restored.
After cleansing, apply a thin layer to clean face and neck with fingertips or the luxurious brush. Massage in and allow this rich cream mask to infuse skin for eight minutes.

Although the company suggests to follow with a moisturiser afterwards, I've never really needed to layer another cream over the mask at least from Spring through Autumn. I would definitely give 5 stars in terms of the hydration it offers, which will work well for normal to dry skin mainly. I've been using Genaissance de La Mer serum underneath, and following with a generous amount of the mask to give a good facial massage for a minute or two.
I even tried on my worst days including PMS, unhealthy diet, insomnia and late night video gaming. And the result? The mask seems to prevent my face to get puffy as I look fresh after waking up as if I got a regular 8 hour sound sleep O_O. It hasn't given me any breakouts, and it rather helps with soothing my PMS spots. It doesn't get rid of pimples as it isn't an acne product, but I can see that at least it doesn't aggravate my monthly spots and helps healing after I pop them :3.
No puffy face means that the mask does actually work on my skin, ie. I can expect some long-term lifting benefits. I've noticed that my jawline looks contoured and skin also feels firmed. It doesn't deliver instant results like in-office treatments, but if you observe your skin every day and night, you can actually see the difference. To be honest, I didn't see much improvement in the middle part of my face along my cheeks. Overall, my experience has been positive, but I may have felt so possibly because I'm mostly on a firming skincare routine, which may have helped to see the result faster. My man with sensitive skin also uses the mask as he looks more well-rested and awake upon wake-up. He hasn't got any sensitivity from the mask and indeed, the mask helps him look more charming after waking up in the morning ;).
