La Mer Review > The Lifting Eye Serum

Published by Jasmine Seo

Over the past few years, La Mer have been quite invested in concreting their postion in lifting/firming category in luxury skincare. This has been a very intriguing transition as it seems to me that La Mer wants to show consumers that they have more than healing skincare. Nevertheless, I'm enjoying the new extension in their skincare range, and La Mer The Lifting Eye Serum has become one of my favourite eye serums on the luxury market.

Scent

There's no recognisable obvious scent, so I thought it was frangrance-free. However, my guess was wrong, it does contain fragrace along with other ingredients such as phenoxyethanol and artifical colourants. It never stung or irritated my eyes, but if you have super sensitive eyes or skin around the area, then you might want to test before purchasing or just skip it altogether.

Consistency

La Mer The Lifting Eye Serum is in a runny lightweight texture, and there's a density to it, which doesn't feel sticky or oily at all.

The consistency is pretty similar to their The Lifting Contour Serum, but the eye serum is even more lightweight.

Despite the fact that the eye serum is very light, there's no obvious alcohol feel or smell to the product by itself, which makes it more pleasant to use.

I was initially worried if it might be absorbed into skin too fast, but luckily, it spreads well and I don't need much at all per application. One drop (not a full drop) is more than enough. As expected, it has a very neat finish with an instant slight firming sensation as the serum penetrates into skin.

The instant firming senation sadly doesn't last all day, but the eye serum does its job. I would say that it works in a way that it prevents puffiness around the area. To be straightforward, it doesn't effectively treat under eye dark circles, but I've noticed that my eyes look less puffy when I wake up in the morning and also during the day when I look into the mirror to check. Having said that, if you have high sodium intake in your diet and build-up toxins in your body along with poor blood circlulation, it will naturally decrease the efficacy of the expensive eye serum and delay seeing results.

If your concern is in hydration and wrinkle improvement around the eye area, La Mer The Eye Serum won't do much. It works fine for Summer, but you will need an extra eye cream over the top for the rest of the seasons. If you are looking for an eye treatment that's kind to eye make-up, then you will like the eye serum as it has a barely there finish to it. If you want overall full rejuvenation, I highly recommend you to pair it with their newest Genaissance de La Mer The Eye and Expression Cream as it will help plump and hydrate the delicate skin.
