La Mer Review > The Moisturizing Soft Lotion (VS La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream)

Published by Jasmine Seo

Amongst all La Mer moisturisers, La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion was my go-to along with The Moisturizing Matte Lotion back when I used to live in Australia where the weather can be very hot and humid. It was my colder season moisturiser as my skin was still young and leaning towards the more reactive side.

Scent & Consistency

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion smells consistent with their other products in the line, it's a smoothing scent which I personally enjoy. It isn't overwhelming, but I wouldn't recommend using it close to the eye area as a safety caution.

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion has a creamy emulsion consistency without much of an oily feel to it, which is why I find it quite neat and rare despite the luxury skincare tendency that even emulsions can feel quite rich and heavy.

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion spreads very easily, and I found that it's also buildable, so I suggest you to start with a small amount.

It leaves skin soft and smooth with a youthful glow to skin.

Verdict

When I use La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion during the day time, I like to apply a first layer, then I mix a bit of foundation in the lotion (ie. customised tinted moisturiser), and put on another layer over the top. If you like a natural make-up look, it might worth trying out this method as I personally found it works well.

For those who are contemplating between La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion and their Soft Cream, I would say that Soft Cream is better for colder seasons and for those with dryness. I have normal skin, and I would use La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion for the daytime before makeup throughout the year except in winter, and The Moisturizing Soft Cream for the nighttime. They are both buildable, so if you have some parts that are prone to dryness, you can just apply more on those particular areas of concern.

If make-up longevity is important to you, I suggest La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion or La Mer The Moisturizing Matte Lotion if you need some sebum control benefit. For the glow make-up base, The Moisturizing Soft Cream works better without adding too much weight to skin. Nonetheless, they all are skin soothing and healing. They don't work like a prescribed ointment or like a magic, but they are more like advanced hydrating moisturisers.
