If you are in search of a multi-purpose oil that you can use throughout the year regardless of the weather restriction, you are in the right spot :). I've been using La Mer The Renewal Oil on and off over the past few years now, and I came to the conclusion that it's one of the more effective oils sold on the luxury skincare market. Having said that, it's still an oil, so you won't see much dramatic improvement in wrinkles and other imperfections. However, you can expect more balanced healthy looking resilient skin with smoother texture if used properly without overdoing it.

Scent & Consistency
Unlike the signature La Mer scent, The Renewal Oil smells more of citrus aroma and revitalising, which reminds me of sunny days. For that reason, I've been enjoying more here in WA as I always need something to uplift my mood due to grey sky.
The texture by itself is also coherent to the scent, and it's rather lightweight than being rich and heavy.
The oil absorbs and penetrates into skin fast, leaving skin supple and glowy. You have full control over the amount and the finish that you desire, so you can gradually build it up. I personally don't like heavy oily residue, so only few drops does the job under my sunscreen.

Effectiveness/ Tips
My skin tends to get irritated easily from citrus scented skincare products in general regardless of how much I love the scent. However, I was very glad to find that La Mer The Renewal Oil doesn't break my skin out, which is indeed good news. I use the oil sparingly onto my face after warming up in my hands, and I didn't notice any increase in sebum production day. My skin feels a lot less dry under heaters and air conditioners on the days that I use the oil.
The Renewal oil is also an great alternative to my go-to Chanel Sublimage L'Extrait oil serum which you can use in between the serum and the moisturiser for more heavy duty rejuvenation. If you are a skincare minimalist, then you could just mix a few drops of The Renewal oil to any of La Mer treatment lotions that you enjoy and just pat them into skin. It's actually something that I often do especially during my cycle and when I'm in a rush to get ready. Even in Summer, I've noticed that this routine helps my skin look less dull and more vibrant and healthy looking without any significant dehydration from air conditioning. It works great for hair and cuticles too, but I only use the leftover after massaging the oil onto my skin as I think that's just sufficient enough as the moderation is the key when using an oil :).

I really love the fact of how versatile The Renewal Oil is, along with it's buildability and compatibility with other products. It's also a great one to add into a regular foundation as it gives a hint of dewy glow to skin. If you don't bother mixing, then you could just dab a tiny bit onto your upper cheekbones either under or over the foundation for better light reflection. La Mer The Renewal Oil will work well on most of the skin types unless your skin is reactant to essential oils, artificial perfume, colourants and other skin allergens. If your skin leans towards the more sensitive side, but you love the texture of The Renewal Oil, I recommend you to check out Kahina Giving Beauty Prickly Pear Seed Oil which my man with eczema skin and I've been loving for long time.
