At least from my perspective, the year 2017 has been tremendously significant to La Mer and also to their mother company, Estée Lauder as they have made a major transformation through renewing and also adding new products. I could see that the company has been trying to expand by adding different lines including Genaissance de La Mer, which seems to be targeting their competitors including La Prairie, Sisley and Guerlain to name a few. They have launched Genaissance de La Mer The Infused Lotion and The Eye and Expression Cream not long ago, which seems to me that they are indeed in a rush to establish the prestigious line as soon as possible. At this rate, who knows, they might come out with different types of Genaissance de La Mer moisturisers starting from next year :P. Haha, fun guessing, let's just keep that open for now >_<. Anyways, I'm here today to review The Infused Lotion, but you might also want to check Genaissance de La Mer The Serum Essence as they complement each other.
The scent is very much La Mer-like, meaning if you enjoy their moisturisers, then you won't have any problem with scent. Having said that, it still contains fragrance, so make sure you test the product beforehand to see if your skin is reactant to it.
Other than that, the scent by itself is quite therapeutic that it always reminds me of La Mer spa. It smells very relaxing and soothing that The Infused Lotion has become a part of my pampering ritual at the end of the a long day :).
As much as the scent of the lotion gives that healing sensation, the texture of the Genaissance de La Mer The Infused Lotion will be a huge hook-up for some of us. It's bi-phased and goes on emulsion-like without feeling heavy, then the texture changes to a more silicon-like velvety feel as you massage in lightly. Fascinating, hey! :D
It takes a little longer to fully penetrated into skin compared to other boosting lotions, but it's not a major problem at all. The finish of it is satiny smooth skin, which almost feels like you put on a primer.
It can feel slightly oily/ sticky if you put too much as it's cream infused, so I suggest you slowly build it up to figure out how much your skin needs at the beginning.
This cream-infused formula becomes pure velvet on the skin. Awash in the transformative energies of the sea, skin is hydrated, softened, nourished and strengthened. A highly active, sea-sourced ferment helps fight visible irritation to enhance skin’s natural strength and well-being. Skin emerges looking healthy and renewed, more resilient and with a better ability to protect itself. Now at full force, the complexion is prepped for the power of the collection.
To Use: Gently shake to infuse formula. After cleansing, sprinkle a small amount onto fingertips and press into skin. Follow with Genaissance de la Mer The Serum Essence and The Eye and Expression Cream
As the new treatment lotion is rather thick and feels nurturing for a booster, it works very well on windy/ cold days. I've noticed that my skin has been feeling a lot more balanced than it was last year; less sensitivity and less discomfort. Having said that, it doesn't feel deeply hydrating, but it works brilliant on dryness by moisturising and improving general quality of skin. If you have combination skin, you could just get away even by only using Genaissance de La Mer The Infused Lotion as 3-in-one treatment (lotion, booster & lightweight moisturiser) whether you decide to use it with or without the moisturiser. I have even used it during my cycle when my skin tends to be most breakout-prone and very imbalanced overall usually, and it hasn't given me any kinds of sensitivity. Rather, I've found that it balances and calms skin somewhat. I wouldn't say that Genaissance de La Mer The Infused Lotion brings miraculous huge change to skin in terms of brightening, lifting or firming, but it seems to do what the company is known for; improved overall condition of skin through healing and soothing skin.
I have one complaint about the packaging though. It comes in a heavy bottle that is even kind of tricky for my relatively big hand to grab properly. What's even worse is that it could slip while shaking, so you will need to be extra careful if you have a child/pet around. And make sure your hands are not wet or slippery. Other than that, it even works great as a make-up base thanks to its smooth finish, which also comes very convenient when weather gets warmer. I like this new Genaissance de La Mer The Infused Lotion mainly because of its versatility and the result overall. And I also think that this is a great introduction to someone who's new to the brand as you get to experience what you can expect from La Mer both serum and moisturiser-wise. It's a great travel companion too! :)
