Chanel Review > Sublimage L'Essence Lumiere (Ultimate Light-Revealing Concentrate/ Serum)

Published by Jasmine Seo

To be honest, I have personally been quite content with Chanel Sublimage L'Essence Fondamentale which was launched before Sublimage L'Essence Lumiere. You can say that I tried Sublimage L'Essence Lumiere due to curiosity since I have been using their range for over a decade now.

Scent & Consistency

Sublimage L'Essence Lumiere is delicately vanilla/floral scented, and it doesn't strongly smell of alcohol.

Consistency-wise, I would say that Sublimage L'Essence Lumiere sits right in between their original Sublimage L'Essence and Sublimage L'Essence Fondamentale. It feels cooling to the touch initially, and Sublimage L'Essence Lumiere still carries the original L'Essence's light texture yet gives a satiny finish of L'Essence Fondamentale.

A small amount goes a long way so you won't need much to cover your whole face and neck. There's no lingering oil feel to skin, and it leaves skin satiny smooth and glowy.

Benefits

An exquisitely sensorial facial serum that illuminates, evens and perfects the look of skin. With use, skin appears or looks 45% more luminous, 42% more even, 41% smoother, 40% more refined and 32% more radiant, while dark spots appear diminished by 10%*.

Verdict

If you have been enjoying Chanel Sublimage L'Essence Fondamentale like me, but found it a little rich for the hot and humid days in Summer, Sublimage L'Essence Lumiere will be a great alternative. You may or may not still need a moisturiser afterwards depending on the weather condition and your skin's moisture level, but pairing with a pump or two of Sublimage L'Extrait or Le Fluide seems to work well at least here in WA.

If you prefer not to use a moisturiser in Summer, then I suggest you to spritz some Sublimage La Brume Mist before and/or after the serum application, it helps not only with the moisture attention but also as a glow booster.

I have noticed a similar degree of skin regeneration and skin balance benefits from Sublimage L'Essence Lumiere, but I would say that my skin felt and looked plumper with Sublimage L'Essence Fondamentale. Sublimage L'Essence Lumiere still works well during my monthly and it didn't seem that my skin was breaking out much relatively. My skin frequently experiences imbalance problems from heat/air conditioning exposure over Summer, but this year has been pretty good so far thanks to Sublimage L'Essence Lumiere. It also provides a great canvas for make-up, and I've found that my foundation lasts somewhat longer although the serum isn't necessarily categorised as a make-up base.
