Sisley Review > Botanical D-Tox (4 week Detoxifying Nighttime Treatment)

Published by Jasmine Seo

I've been a massive fan of Sisley intensive treatments in general, and I've gone through many bottles of their Night Complex with botanical extracts (Complexe Sero-Botanique) which was the old version of Botanical D-Tox. Even after renewal about 5 years ago, I continued to use Botanical D-Tox until I completely switched to their Supremÿa at Night (Supremÿa la nuit) as I started to prefer a more nurturing consistency. Supremÿa at Night is also a nice one to alternate if you are interested in skin longevity.

Nevertheless, I still save Sisley Botanical D-Tox samples that I've been given upon purchases for my holidays and PMS, because it works brilliantly well on stressed skin. And it somewhat brings me those happy memories from when I was in university whenever I use it, and it certainly adds an extra healing effect as I used to use the detox treatment very religiously back then.

Scent

Sisley Botanical D-Tox has a very soothing herbal scent, which smells rather on the relaxing and calming side than some of those overwhelming essential oils that seem to be quite dominant in the majority of natural skincare products on the market. Even before renewal, it has never given me any sensitivity from the scent, which is another reason why I've kept coming back to it. The scnet suits the purpose of the product as it does de-stress mind and make the skincare ritual more indulgent and revitalising.

Consistency

The texture is nothing unusual as it still has a lightweight emulsion serum that goes onto skin very smooth and spreads very easily.

Sisley Botanical D-Tox instantly moisturises skin, leaving it velvety soft to touch once it's fully absorbed. As it contains nourishing plant oils and shea butter, it takes a little longer for it to penetrate into skin compared to their other serums. However, if you add a mini massage, it won't take that long as it accerlates the speed of absorption into skin and increases the penetration level.

I also found it quite buildable, so if you put more, you will get more moisturisation.

It's actually quite convenient, because I could just adjust the amount according to how my skin feels at the end of the day as I use it by itself when I'm on my cycle and/or the weather gets too hot or humid.

Benefits

Botanical D-Tox is a month-long detoxifying nighttime treatment that works during the most favorable time for cellular regeneration to combat the signs of fatigue. Highly concentrated in plant extracts, it works in a comprehensive manner on the 3 main levels of the skin detoxification process. It promotes cellular detoxification* (peptidic rice extract), stimulates the skin's natural defenses against oxidative stress** (einkorn extract) and provides a boosting action (ginkgo biloba extract, extracts of rosemary and hops). Essential oils complement the product with their delicate perfumes and create a feeling of relaxation when applied. At the end of the treatment period, the complexion is brightened, signs of fatigue are reduced, the face's features appear rested, and skin is left radiant. Non-comedogenic.

Results

Within the first few days, skin is more beautiful upon awakening. It is as if it has been purified. At the end of the 4-week treatment, the complexion is brightened and facial features appear rested. Skin regains all its energy and may again fully benefit from its daily skin care products.

Application

Each night, apply 2 pumps to clean, dry skin. Apply to the face, neck, and décolleté, by itself or before your usual nighttime skincare product. One bottle holds enough for two month-long treatments.

Verdict

Considering how potent Botanical D-Tox is, I have never gotten any sensitivity issues from using it for years despite the fact that my skin doesn't normally get along very well with skincare products containing shea butter and essential oils. Even my sister who has sensitive skin has no problem despite its essential oil content. Of course, it's Sisley, and I would always consider the way they formulate their products to be one of the best amongst all other luxury skincare brands.

Sisley Botanical D-Tox is lightweight yet mighty as it hydrates and moisturises skin just right that my skin feels well-balanced. Although it isn't a brightening treatment, I personally found my skin to be brighter and more well-rested in the following morning after the treatment. To be honest, it brings way better results than some of the most expensive spa effect as Botanical D-Tox has a much longer lasting outcome. I think that it works the best for frequent flyers, those who are going through hormonal aging and/or anyone who struggle with stress generally. Sisley detox treatment was the reason why I've fell in love with general detox routine, and I'm still sticking to it almost a decade later.

Sisley Botanical D-Tox is a true S.O.S treatment that anyone living in a busy city life would appreciate. As it's potent, I don't suggest anyone to layer too many products underneath or on top of it as it could potentially affect the expected results and increases the chance to irritate skin. I recommend using just a spritz of Sisley Floral Spray Mist or Sisley Floral Toning Lotion with a cotton pad before the treatment application, then follow with a simple moisturiser if you have dry/mature skin. I like to use their Sisleÿa Essential Skin Care Lotion as a treatment toner, and I find it to work well with Botanical D-Tox as it adds a bit of soothing effect.

If you prefer a face oil to a moisturiser as a final skincare step, then I would suggest something simple and gentle like argan oil or prickly pear seed oil. Either way, it's important to let the treatment get absorbed into skin fully before any oils or moisturisers. I've also found that giving face a bit of nightly massage using Gua Sha massage tool increases the overall efficacy of detox effects, and I've noticed that it actually helps with face puffiness too.

If you have been looking for a luxury detox treatment that is more affordable yet fool-proof, Sisley Botanical D-Tox will do its job as a bottle normally lasts for 2-3 months. Having said that, due to its potency and essential oil content, I personally wouldn't recommend using Sisley Botanical D-Tox for those who are pregnant and nursing just to be safe although it's really up to one's view on topical skincare products. Regardless, Sisley Botanical D-Tox still remains as one of the promising products that delivers sound sleep effect to skin.
